Specialized Kinesiology is
(kin-easy-ology)
Conventionally, kinesiology means the study of motion; how muscles act and co-ordinate to move the body.
Specialized Kinesiology (also known as Energy Kinesiology. and BioEnergetics) is a complementary, natural healing method that uses muscle feedback monitoring to determine the distribution, strength, and flow of energy in the body.
Based on techniques from Applied Kinesiology, Osteopathy, Chiropractic and Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is a very effective and versatile modality that can be used to detect and correct imbalances by working with the body as a complete whole, rather than a fragmented collection of unrelated parts. By carefully observing and monitoring muscle responses, and understanding the energy systems that are connected to those muscles, it is possible to reduce stress and increase healthy flow of energy. When stress is reduced the body finds it easier to learn, remember, stay in healthy emotional balance & live in harmony spiritually.
A Specialized Kinesiologist is trained to carefully observe, notice changes in energy flow, locate energetic or physical blockages, and apply specialized techniques that support the body's unique way of healing. At the most basic level, we believe that the body is designed to heal itself. It inherently knows what is wrong and also how to fix it. Internal wisdom is honored in every session in a way that empowers the body to find its own path to health. Applied Kinesiology was designed for the professional wellness provider. Specialized kin-easy-ology was designed for anyone interested in wellness and taking charge of their health.
Tens of thousands of children and adults, professional health providers and non-professionals from over 100 countries in the world are currently using Specialized Kinesiology through the many disciplines that have grown from the research of George Goodheart who brought together research done by Physical Therapists Henry and Florence Kendall's extensive research on muscle testing, Osteopath Frank Chapman's work with Neurolymphatic Reflexes, Dr Bennett DC's contribution of Neurovasuclar Reflexes, Dr Charles Krebs PhD paradigm shifting work on brain injury and recovery, Richard Utt's acupressure formatting, Sheldon Deal's mentorship, and Dr John Thie's commitment to make these advanced techniques available to the layperson of any walk of life through the Touch for Health program.

Muscle Biofeedback Monitoring
In Specialized and Energy Kinesiology muscle biofeedback monitoring is used to follow the flow of energy in a body. While the biology is quite complex, it can be described as a simple binary yes/no response. A computer can perform extremely complex functions, but at the core of the program is a simple binary 00101011 on/off code. A muscle is either contracting or it is not.
In muscle biofeedback monitoring we use this yes/no on/off simplicity observe and to identify the most effective corrective technique that the body can use to heal itself. We ask Does this muscle have strong energetic flow? Is the energy blocked? What level of stress is in the muscle, and what technique is necessary for the body to release this level of stress so it can reset.
Muscle Biofeedback Monitoring
ALARM POINTS: The electrical system of your home is protected by fuse box. If a wall outlet draws too much energy, it may blow the fuse. We use a similar principle when working with the body. Using alarm points we can discover if one system is drawing too much energy leaving others without energy to function well. When the "draw" of energy in that system is out of balance, the electrical 'charge' in the fingertip will be enough to 'pop the fuse' so speak, and cause the monitored muscle to go weak.

HAND MODES: Hands are wonderful ways to interact with the world. A small hand motion may tell you I want to say 'hi'. The waving of the index finger could be a judgmental wag or a way of saying 'no'. In a similar way in SK we use hand modes to communicate with the subconscious.
Hand modes signal a request for information specific to anatomy, physiology, organs, glands, or hormones to name a few. The use of hand modes help the therapist ask very specific - still binary yes/no - questions.
Kinesiology Corrective Techniques
The foundation course for a Specialized Kinesiology practice is Touch For Health. This program uses very precise and researched corrective techniques to assist the body in releasing energetic blocks and healing itself. Some of these are:
The Body's Subtle Energy
If you look carefully you can see the electromagnetic field beside the light pole and around the animal in these un-retouched actual photos taken at sunset. It is unusual to see such a clear image, but the photos are genuine and real. Some people can see these electromagnetic fields - also called 'auras' - and have been able to describe the way energy flows following corrections.

NEUROLYMPHATIC POINTS: By gently rubbing a neurolymphatic point, the body is gently assisted in releasing congested energy that may be trapped and unable to flow.
Unlike the circulation system that has a heart pump, the lymph is moved through the body by physical movement.
If a person is sedentary or a certain area of the body is restricted, removal of toxins- be they biological or emotional - can be stalled.
NEUROVASCULAR POINTS: These points are on the head and associated with blood circulation. Bringing blood flow to the brain results in improved mental clarity, circulation, and organ function.
ACCUPRESSURE HOLDING POINTS: AHP are meridian points that are accessible from the surface of the skin. When the therapist is holding accupressure points areas that are energetically disconnection will make new connections.
Additionally, AHP allows us to move energy from systems with a surplus to areas that are deficient. These points are used to tonify (bring energy in) and sedate (move energy out) for the purpose of returning the body into healthy balance and flow.
CHAKRA BALANCING: The Chakras are like satellite dishes that gather information from the world outside the body and transmit it to the systems within the body.
Each 'dish' is integrated with multiple subtle energy systems in the body. Correcting the oscillation, projection, alignment and weave helps a body gather info and express itself in the world.

MERIDIAN TRACING: Traditional Chinese Medicine has been using the Meridian system for over 2000 years. Recently radioactive isotopes were injected into this system and the researchers were able to validate the pathways visually. Meridian tracing is a gentle massage of the energy system that follows the flow of chi from one system to the next throughout the body.
GOLGI-TENDON and SPINDLE CELL techniques: These are applied to the physical muscle in order to communicate directly with the brain via * nervous system. Golgi-tendon refers to where the tendon attaches to the bone. Spindle Cell mechanism is a way to communicate with the brain via the proprioceptors in the belly of the muscle. Stretching or shortening muscle fibers will communicate with the brain that will relax or tighten the muscle.
Sound, Light, and Other Subtle Energetic Corrective Techniques
The body contains a very complex yet subtle network of sensory receptors. Advanced tools to address the subtle body include techniques to remove energy blockages and enhance healthy healing flow:

SOUND FREQUENCY: Everything is in a state of vibration - including humans. A healthy vibratory frequency is necessary for every organ, cell, bone, tissue and liquid of the body, as well as the electromagnetic fields which surround the body (aura). In my practice I use Applied Physiology's Tuning Forks. This set of 14 carefully tuned instruments emit pure sine wave sound which stimulate the flow of lymph and blood, help eliminate stress and toxins, promote relaxation and speed up the healing process.
When two forks are used simultaneously they can create a harmonic frequency that will gently shift any dissonant energy back to balance, or they can create an interference pattern which will break up any congested blockages so energy can flow again.
ACCUTRIGGER: This meridian point simulator is used for pain relief and meridian energy point stimulation. I affectionately call it the ' rain maker' because in my practice it only comes out to play when a client's energy flow is extremely blocked and resistant to easy release.
Like a bolt of lightening between heavy rain clouds, the safe spark of electricity is often enough to break the impasse between expanding and stalled energy.
Similar to thunder clouds, energy sometimes just needs a quick bolt of lightening sparking between the layers to break the static charge, release the stalled energy, and allow it to flow.
FLOWER ESSENCES: Flower essences are very gentle energy medicines that help transition humans through difficult challenges.
Every flower, in order to reach maturity, must go through several phases of growth. The challenges they face and overcome become their energetic strength. Flower essences are made by taking healthy, mature blossoms and place them in the sunshine. The sun infuses the water with the 'essence' of the flower. This 'essence' water is then preserved as a flower remedy which can help enhance the positive aspects of mind, emotion and personality.
Essences work subtly to restore balance in the energy body. The change is so gentle it can be as comfortable and gradual as a flower opening its petals
LASER AND LIGHT THERAPY: Advances in science are showing the benefit of light and high intensity cold lasers as a tool for healing. Tuned to very specific frequencies, laser and colored lights are able to provide comfort and relief for many conditions. I like to describe the light application works similar to a fiber-optic telephone/internet cable which carries a message over distances to the receptor where it can be transformed for use. The meridian system carries light energy to where it benefits most.
